Our Founder

Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Datuk Abdul Razak Latiff is a high energy and proactive professional with over 20 years of experience successfully leading and managing people and projects in the telecommunications, power and IT industries. After obtaining his post-degree Diploma in Accounting at University Malaya, he joined the Accountant General’s office and was later seconded to Jabatan Telekom Malaysia where he served for 8 years. He later joined a leading Telecommunications group in 1983 to broaden his exposure in corporate management. He was instrumental in the acquisition and turn around of several ailing companies, which later became acknowledged profit earners within the group.



With his accumulated experience he ventured out on his own and established ARL Associates Sdn Bhd in 1991 as an outfit to market his business skills. In June 1994 he secured a privatization project to develop a 50 MW IPP Power Plant at Melawa, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The RM200 million project was developed on a Build-Own-Operate (BBO) basis. Later he established a new subsidiary, ARL Janakuasa Letrik Sdn Bhd to operate and maintain the Plant.

As the Group Managing Director, he is the driving force of ARL Global Group of Companies. Although coming from a non-technical background, he has developed the ability to combine strategic business planning with an empirical approach in analysis. Over the years he has developed his own business philosophy and values, which he fervently applies to the Group's business dealings and simply states, "Do things in moderation and don't profit on people's misery."
